Guest Speaker: Capt. John O’Connor

Captain O’Connor, Commander, Sector Boston, U.S. Coast Guard, has served in five ships and his shore assignments include postings in the Marine Environmental Response Branch, the Department of Professional Studies, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Military Aide to the Commandant, Washington, DC; Commanding Officer, USCG Station New London; Commander, U.S. Coast Guard Group Boston, Deputy Commander, Sector Boston; Chief, U.S. Coast Guard Officer Candidate School, and his most recent assignment as the 33rd Commandant of Cadets of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. His military awards include four Meritorious Service Medals, five Coast Guard Commendation Medals, the Coast Guard Achievement Medal, two Commandant’s Letter of Commendation Ribbons, the Coast Guard Basic Training Honor Graduate Ribbon and numerous other personal and unit awards. Captain O’Connor holds a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies,with Highest Distinction, from the U.S. Naval War College, a Master of Education degree from Harvard University, a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University, and a Doctorate in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University.
